The operations, executed by U.S. Navy ships and aircraft, targeted Houthi command and control centers, along with facilities used for the production and storage of advanced weapons, including missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
These strikes were in direct response to a series of recent Houthi actions, including ballistic missile attacks on Israel and continued assaults on military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The U.S. military emphasized that the objective of these strikes was to degrade the Houthis' ability to conduct such operations, thus enhancing regional stability.
A spokesperson for the Houthi group, Mohammed Abdulsalam, condemned the U.S. strikes, calling them a violation of Yemen's sovereignty.
